I started seeing discarded lottery Tickets on my walks in Jersey City where I lived. There were just so many. I started collecting them. Something intrigued me, it became something I had to understand.
and I understood that it's an addiction, that most of the point of sales are in poor or immigrant neighborhood. I understood that it's a predatory industry. I see the hope and the loss on the streets. I collect pieces of torn tickets and glue them back together. I think it's my way to take care of the Losers, to hug them.
Focus on Losers” is a series of artworks i ' m developing reflecting on the energy of losing everyday.
I usually find my tickets on the street but my neighbor knowing I collect them keeps them for me. He's happy I can do something with them.
My work is inspired by movement and energy
My work attempts to understand behavior, change perception of materials and space.
This piece is inspired by the hand movement of crinkling the tickets after realizing the loss. The tickets found on the streets are either thorn in pieces, crinkled or whole.
Most of my artwork is also assembled mechanically, piece by piece.
