The Loser Show is an interactive multidisciplinary art happening about luck, loss and hope. Monumental in scope, the show features artworks created from tens of thousands of losing lottery tickets donated to the artist by her neighbors over the past five years. Originally conceived in 2016 in Jersey City.
Laura Quattrocchi ( Laura Q ) is an Italian-born, Detroit-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice bridges contemporary dance, found-object sculpture, and community-engaged installation art. Grounded in her background in movement and improvisation, she approaches the world as a physical environment to be observed, gathering overlooked everyday castoffs and translating human behaviors into monumental, three-dimensional visual maps. Her decade-long project, The Loser Show, transforms tens of thousands of discarded scratch-off lottery tickets—collected from streets and donated by neighbors—into a series of massive assemblages and interactive happenings. Trained in contemporary dance, Quattrocchi builds her concepts by closely observing the physical environment and human gestures. She translates kinetic habits—like the repetitive action of scratching, tearing, and crumpling paper—into structural forms. Hope Wreath 2 and Hope Cell are 2 elements of her monumental installation "The Loser Show"
